The journey into the groundbreaking world of Modern Art begins with the French Impressionists in the 1860s. Considered an assault on the artistic establishment, loose and rapid brushwork shook standards and broke barriers. Through visual analysis and discussion, students will gain the knowledge and tools to explore, respond to, and interpret pivotal works of Mordern Art. Artists to be discussed include Turner, Manet, Monet, Degas, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Seurat, Matisse, and Picasso. Class will not meet April 30.
