Founders Hall

Built in 2003 and 15,000 square feet inside

Our building is a gathering place for our members to connect with each other and the hobbies, subjects and instructors that inspire them. Located at 193 Danbury Road, next door to the Town of Ridgefield’s Recreation Center.

The building has many features of a comfortable home, and indeed, Founders Hall members do feel welcome here. In addition to coming for classes, they gather for Founders Hall social events, fundraisers, lectures and other periodic events.

Interior

The building contains rooms dedicated to academic classes, art, crafts, billiards, fitness, technology and games. It contains a large lecture room and a media room. The living room and library offer comfortable seating for reading and relaxing, as well as a meeting place for small classes. The computer room has 10 computers for technology classes and members’ use. The building has wi-fi throughout. Moveable walls allow the staff to configure spaces as needs arise.

Exterior

The exterior area is comfortable and spacious. The back patio has tables, chairs, and an awning that provides shade from the summer sun. There are garden beds – one raised – where our gardening group grows a multitude of goodies, both to eat and to admire. The bocce court receives regular use three seasons each year. The sizeable front porch has benches that provide spots for conversations and people watching.

Location

Our location near the Ridgefield Recreation Center means we have public amenities close at hand. A paved trail – it is just over a mile loop – is a popular meeting place for our walking group. The outdoor exercise machines next door are frequented by fitness enthusiasts. Our water aerobics class, basketball group, and pickleball players enjoy the indoor pool and basketball courts in the Recreation Center.
