The Children’s Hour
Are children inherently innocent or are they capable of duplicity and manipulation? In a threatening world of troubled adults, is it up to young people to look after themselves? These are but two questions among many that will be considereed as we examine the ways in which children and adolescents are depicted in four notable novels. Works will include The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Ellen Foster by Kaye Gibbons and The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. This in-person only class is limited to 20 participants.
