Drawing with Silverpoint

Refered to as ‘silverpoint’ until the 20th century, a variety of metals have been used to produce exquisitely detailed illustrations. In addition to silver, these included gold compounds, tin, antimony, bronze and lead. Each metal oxidizes and darkens to its own distinctive subtle hue. A metalpoint drawing is created with a stylus – a thin metal rod inserted into a holder – on a prepared surface.

A supplies list will be sent to all students. Class participants will be limited to 8.
