Drawing 3-2-3: Deconstructive and Reconstructive Freehand Drawing
An homage and genuflect to Cooper Union’s ‘Freehand Drawing’ professor, Irwin Rubin, this course will focus on developing a better understanding of visualizing and drawing three dimensional objects. The 3-2-3 process involves deconstruction (deletion) of the 3-rd dimension in observation of 3D shapes, learning to flatten and draw them in 2 dimensions (silhouette/knock-out format), and then adding back the 3-rd dimension. The ultimate result is a deeper grasp of the principles of perspective in art. Class participants will be limited to 8.
